TODAY WAS FREAKIN' AWESOME.
I'm not really going to do indepth reviews of speeches. that has been done by people far more knowledgeable than me. I will say a few things though. The music was awesome. Aretha was good as always. The arrangement by John Williams was interesting and well done. I bet it was even better live. Obama, while not as rousing as he can be, gave a beautiful and moving speech. I am excited & expectant for the next four (more?) years.
The folks I was house & pet sitting for (while they attempted the sardines-in-a-can Capitol Mall) arrived back in Baltimore earlier than they were expecting. They made CNN Sunday (Monday?) night. pretty cool huh? The dad got to the Mall at 5 am to stake out a spot (a very nice one too). Mom & kids tried to get to him 3 hours latter and were unsuccessful getting through the MASS OF PEOPLE. The last estimate I heard (at about 2:45) was 1.8 MILLION ATTENDEES.
oh and pins! I'm loving the various pins people wore today. I work as a waitress so I got to see a lot of them :) I have to go out and get my hands on one in particular. It was the number 44 laid out with all the previous presidents. Obama stood out in red. very cool!
also: today's Daily Show & Colbert Show need to be up online stat! I wanna see what they say about Obama's flubbing. which, ya know, I thought was oddly endearing. But I still wanna see their reactions.
I know I didn't really hear "How I Saved Roosevelt" from Assassins before the inauguration started. I didn't, I didn't, I didn't. It was something else. right?
