First off: HUGH FOR TWELVE!

So I want to write a research paper. Not for class or anything. just for me. How has children's television in the last 20-25 years evolved to help kids become more open to diversity. Example One: Power Rangers. The original line up included 2 Caucasian, one African American, one Asian America, and one of mixed Asian and Caucasian heritage. I know this set up helped me know that I didn't have to be friends with just the other white kids. Example Two: Sesame Street. Monsters of assorted sizes, shapes and colors. And guess what? They constantly talk about accepting one another. Example Three (for the future gen): Doctor Who. Three words. Captain Jack Harkness. He's definitely not straight. And we all love him. Will he help foster acceptance for LGBTs?

Old kid shows would include American Bandstand and Howdy Doody. All white casts.

And yes I realize that there isn't a complete acceptance of racially diverse people or people of different sexual orientation in todays world. There is more than there was decades ago though. These kids shows helped with that.

You liked the Ninth Doctor the most. You may be new to Dr Who, but you like what you've seen so far. Hoorah for Russell T Davies!

"Hoorah Russel T Davies?"

Hmmm....some of the time.

(My Dalek slippers keep saying EXTERMINATE and cracking my roommate up in the dead quiet of the room while we're trying to do homework XD)
