I NEVER, EVER WANT TO BE THE 'EVERYMAN' IN ONE OF JOSS WHEDON'S WORKS. HE FUCKING DID IT TO US AGAIN >:( I FUCKING CALLED IT. AND WHILE I WAS SORT OF EXPECTING IT, I DO. NOT. WANT.
okay, that bit's out of the way.
Yes I get that Coulson's death was important for character development and plot movement. I STILL AM NOT HAPPY.
at the same time, I'm like in utter AWE of this movie. the dialogue was spot on, the pacing was great, the fights were EPIC. the right mix of comedy and action, as I expect from Whedon. I started biting my knuckles from the OPENING lines to keep from squealing. And oh yeah, Loki picking Germany to force people to his will. IRONY. JOSS HAS IT. And the old man that stood up to him, totally made me tear up.
'CAPSICLE' they used 'CAPSICLE'. Also: 'FLYING MONKEYS!' 'MONKEYS?' 'I UNDERSTOOD THAT REFERENCE!' TONY'S COMMENTS ABOUT SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK AND WEARING YOUR MOTHER'S DRAPES.
Natasha's interrogation techniques are really awesome. Clint was nowhere as underused as I thought he was going to be. In fact everyone got lots of development and screen time. except Thor. he STILL didn't develop anywhere. looks pretty though. AND HIS DISAPPEARING, REAPPEARING CAPE BUGGED ME.
Movie failed the Bechel Test though. NAMED FEMALE CHARACTERS DIDN'T EVEN TALK TO EACH OTHER. bah!
Anyone on my flist watch Reboot when they were younger? The attack at the end TOTALLY gave me flashbacks to the Web Riders and "World War Web". Watch "Web Riders on the Storm" if you don't believe me
CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE. OTHER THAN I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!!!!!!
