I rotated my image slighty and cropped & risized it to be 100x100 pixles. Then I used Filters>>Enhance>>Unsharp Mask with the following settings:

Radius: 5.0
Amount: 0.50
Threshold: 0

<< this is my base.

I wanted the skeleton to standout a little more. but using standard methods made Hellboy standout, a lot. So I duplicated the layer and added a layer mask erasing Hellboy. I took that layer with the background & the skeleton and duplicated it twice. Each duplicated layer was set to burn 100%.

Merge all the layers

Duplicate the layer. set it to Overlay 100%.

Add a new layer fill with #ffcc33. set to Screen 62.7%

Add a new layer fill with #ffcc33. set to Subtract 20.8%

Duplicate base. Drag to top. Set to Soft Light 100%.

Duplicate Soft Light layer. set to Soft Light 9.8%.

add this texture in a new layer (by [livejournal.com profile] ewanism I belive)

set to Overlay 100%

Using text Eight Fifteen (downloaded) set at size: 24 type text. (make sure Hinting, Force auto-hinter, & Antialiasing are checked)

New Layer. below the text. using the Calligraphic Brush 20x20 (comes with GIMP) to add a scribble of color (I used #d9b0d1)
